Lining your lids in bright green, going gold all over, coloring your kisser two different shades...these revolutionary effects
will make everyone else look boring. Here are some tips for make-up...

Electrify your eyes
eye-makeup

Emerald alone is amazing at attracting stares, says colour psychologist Kate Smith. So just imagine what the shade can do when topped with glitter (whiplash alert!). Coat lids with a concealer (a good one: Avon Stick  Concealer,  Rs 229). "The blank canvas helps the colour pop on your eyes, says make-up artist Tim Quinn. Then run a damp angled eyeliner brush (we love brushes from M.A.C.On a budget? Try Vega!) over green shadow and apply it across upper lash lines, extending just past outer corners. Finally, layer on some green glitter (try Shiseido, it comes with a brush). The more layers you apply, the more glances you'll get.

Give in to gilt-y pleasures

Woman-makeup
Instead of limiting shimmer to one part of your face (sooo restrained), illuminate all over. "Just choose universally flattering metallic’s with golden undertones rather than too-frosty silvers, suggests Quinn.
Blend a cream eye shadow (try the one in nude from M.A.C) from your upper lashes all the way up to your brows (don't forget mascara). Then dab a luminising face lotion all the way up cheekbones.
Finish by swiping lips with a shimmering nude gloss: Bourjois's lipper works absolutely fab on Indian tones. Got extra cash this month? Try Dior Addict Ultra Gloss Glow in Lace Beige.

Be Cheeky

Woman-makeup
Take a bolder approach to brushing on blush: bypass the apples and apply it high at the temples. "It's so unexpected and out-of-the-box, plus the location makes your cheekbones look more lifted than ever, says M.A.C make-up artist Jenn Karsten.
Grab your blush (at right, our favourite cream and powder), then place each pointer finger directly below the centre of each pupil on the bony areas of your upper cheeks.
Lightly apply a little blush there and continue upward in a C shape toward your temples, applying more heavily as you go. Amp up the effect by wearing a similarly shaded lip colour. The blushes here work well with Inglot's pink lip duo, Rs 720.
